Visit The School Before the First Day<\/span><\/h3>\n

Many high schools have freshman orientation, where they invite incoming students to tour the school and get their schedules. During this time, they will show you where the gym, cafeteria, freshman lockers, and bathrooms are so that you are more comfortable and prepared on your first day. If your school does not have an orientation day, you can ask an older sibling, friend, or neighbour to give you a tour and help you locate your classes on the first day.<\/span><\/p>\n

Get Involved<\/span><\/h3>\n

High school opens new opportunities for you to get involved in new sports and activities. Get involved in a club or sport that you enjoy. It\u2019s a great way to make new friends that share the same interests.<\/span><\/p>\n

Pick Fun Electives<\/span><\/h3>\n

High school is probably the first time that you\u2019re able to choose electives. There are a number of classes to choose from, including music, art, computer science, and so on. Choose electives that you will enjoy and won\u2019t be too challenging. You\u2019ll want to see how well you handle your core courses before you start taking on more challenging electives in later years.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ask Questions<\/span><\/h3>\n

It can be scary being in a new place with new people, and you can shy from answering and asking questions in class. Remember, just because no one asked doesn\u2019t mean that everyone understands what\u2019s going on. You and your classmate will be glad that you did.<\/span><\/p>\n

Don\u2019t Forget to Do Your Homework<\/span><\/h3>\n

It is crucial that you stay on top of your schoolwork. Not only will it guarantee that you get good grades, but it will show the areas that you need to work harder in. Skipping homework will put you behind your classmates and you\u2019ll have to work twice as hard to catch up. Make sure you give your brain a break during study sessions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Be Strategic With How You Spend Your Time<\/span><\/h3>\n

If you want to hang out with your friends on the weekend, make sure you schedule a time to study before or after. It\u2019s important to have balance, and not neglect one for the other. Be realistic about the way you schedule your activities so that you don\u2019t end up falling behind or feeling like you don\u2019t see your friends anymore.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
